Antioxidant synergy
By combing different types of antioxidants, you greatly increase the efficacy of individual compounds, named synergy. Synergy means: A combined action between two (or more) antioxidants on preventing lipid oxidation. Synergy between two antioxidants is based mainly on the regeneration of one by the other.

An important example of such beneficial combinations is the interaction between ascorbyl palmitate and tocopherols. Combined they achieve higher efficacy than when used sparately.

This can have great advantages, especially when one compound is more expensive than the other. Using a synergistic combination, the same effect can be produced at lower cost.
